Of course, all the documentaries have the genre 'documentary'. However, a number also have additional genres, which can say something about the type of documentary. Such a comparison is not simple, however - it might appear that there is more focus on looking at societal issues (maatschappijprogramma) in the 00s, but it could also be that this genre only started to be used as a label in the 70s. Note also that programmes can have more than one genre, so the sum of the parts adds up to more than the whole. This means that you cannot make hard comparisons of the numbers, but they do give an indication.
Length of documentaries
Have documentaries got longer? The graphs below would seem to indicate so - but a large number of programmes either do not have their durations recorded, or have a duration of '0', so this information can't be taken at face value.
